Vero has appointed three new Business Development Managers (BDMs) to assist Insurance Brokers in an effort to increase its presence in Central West NSW and strengthened its Metro NSW team.
Vero Executive GM Intermediated Distribution Andrew Mair said the talent and expertise of each of the new managers would be put to good use in Vero’s BDM team which had already built a reputation for outstanding broker relationships and service.
“Since we expanded our national BDM footprint in 2007, we’ve developed a better understanding of the needs and requirements of our brokers, particularly in regional areas. We’ve created a new role to strengthen our presence in Central West NSW and make sure our brokers from Albury/Wodonga and all the way between Wagga Wagga and Bega are receiving the best possible service from us,” said Mr Mair.
Tony Maher will join Vero on Monday 11 October in the newly created BDM role based in Albury. Tony brings with him an impressive 23 years of insurance industry experience, spanning insurance sales, distribution and claims management.
“We knew we needed a BDM who understood regional brokers and the challenges and opportunities they faced. Not only does Tony have a long history in the industry, he has recently managed the operations of 12 regional offices from Darwin down to Tasmania, and I’m confident we’ve found the right person for the job,” Mr Mair said.
John O’Brien joins the NSW BDM team with responsibility for servicing Sydney Metro brokers. John comes to Vero with 10 years of insurance broking experience in both Australia and London, including large corporate accounts. John will be focused on working with brokers to seek opportunities for growth while providing continual support in the form of training and reporting.
Sharon O’Donnell also joins the NSW BDM team with a focus on brokers in the Sydney Metro area. Sharon has been with Vero for four years and has moved into the BDM team after completing roles in platinum insurance and corporate property. Sharon has experienced many different aspects of the insurance industry over 11 years in Australia and the UK, including broking, underwriting, operations and technology development projects.
“Our aim is to make our business accessible and efficient – we want it to be easy for insurance brokers to do business with us. Building partnerships with brokers has been and will continue to be our focus. These new BDMs will allow us to do just that,” added Mr Mair.
