Australian  Insurer QBE  to refund policy holders for over charging fire services levy (FSL) in Victoria

QBE has identified an error in its calculation of its fire services levy on around 5% of their Victorian policy holders with property coverage. The insurer advised the Victorian Fire Services Levy Monitor of the error and has sent a letter to the affected clients, as well as the refund they have offered a further $20 adjustment to their next instalment.

Policy holders that renewed a QBE Australia Victorian Buildings, Contents, Strata Home Contents, Valuables, Mortgagee Interest Only or Landlords insurance policy directly through QBE Australia or through a financial institution (predominantly credit unions), between 29th September 2012 and 30th June 2013 may have been overcharged.
